Wire reinforced fabrics are made by plying stainless steel wires with texturized fiberglass yarns. Those yarns are then woven into fabric. Wire reinforced fabrics have superior resistance to puncture and wear, they are strong and they effectively dissipate heat. The wire keeps the weave strong, so these fabrics are ideal for high vibration environments. Refineries, power plants and offshore drilling platforms commonly utilize wire reinforced ZetexPlus® in combination with other Newtex Performance Materials to construct turbine blankets. Our wire fabrics are higher quality than many competitive materials due to their weave structure and the type of wire we use. Many competitive fabrics are wire inserted rather than wire reinforced, meaning that we actually wrap the wire around each strand of yarn, whereas many competitive materials are made by simply weaving the wire across the fabric. We also use a finer wire than our competitors. The fine wire is less likely to kink and has greater flex fatigue resistance. For these reasons, Newtex wire fabrics are stronger and more durable than many options from other manufacturers.
